Introducing Backpacking Travel Blog

Welcome!  Backpacking Travel Blog is a recent project I’m working on with my wife Audrey.  Many of you may know us from our respective flagship sites Nomadic Samuel and That Backpacker.  Ever since we started dating we’ve talked about creating a joint site together.  It’s great fun having your own site but it is even more meaningful to run one together with a partner.

We’ve decided to go with the name “Backpacking Travel Blog” because that’s exactly the lifestyle we currently pursue.  We’re backpackers first and foremost and this is our travel blog.

Audrey was born with itchy feet and grew up in a family that went places.  She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada but was raised during her formative years in a small town in Córdoba, Argentina.  During her teenage years she lived in Miami for a while before settling in Toronto.  She’s now currently based in South Korea teaching English to a hilarious bunch while saving hard for a backpacking around the world adventure.

My background is far less glamorous.  I grew up in a small town on Vancouver Island (Gold River) – British Columbia, Canada.  My desire to travel the world did not fully manifest itself until I finished university.  Ever since then I’ve been based overseas.  With over seven years of life experience abroad it has now become my way of life rather than a transitional period.

We have big plans for this site.  As far as formatting and posts are concerned one can expect to view photos essays, vlogs, interviews, destination articles, travel narrative, travel photos, travel tips and guest posts.

Audrey and I have recently started making a lot of vlogs together and we plan to continue doing that on a more regular basis.  Ideally we’d like to show a vlog at least once a week.

As far as our around the world travel plans are concerned, we’ve currently decided that our adventures will begin early next year.  It’s an exciting time for us because we’re saving hard, working on projects and preparing for a trip of a lifetime.  Although we both have extensive backpacking experience, we’ve never done a large scale trip together and that’s what possibly excites us the most.  We plan to start in SE Asia with definite plans to spent a considerable amount of time in India.  We’ll see where things go from there.  One thing we’ve decided is that we won’t make rigid plans.

Anyhow, welcome to our blog and expect to see many new posts coming in the near future!

Good luck with the new site… didn’t realize we were both Islanders! Small world. I too will be in India later this year… maybe we’ll run into each other among the other billion. Like I said, it is a small world… 🙂

  2. Hi guys, and congrats on your new venture! I’m sure you’ll be a huge success.
We’re from the interior of BC (Kamloops right now). Not sure if there are quite a few travel bloggers from BC out there, but I sure seem to be running into a lot lately. 🙂

Hey you look like you’re having a blast out there in the big wide world.

I know that Audrey isn’t accepting guest postings on her own blog but was wondering if you did on your joint site.

Just a new blogger looking for some practice and recognition.

    Thanks and enjoy the world,
