A weekend in Miami: Making the most of a short visit!

Miami is a beach destination that should be at the top of the list! This city has plenty to offer travellers including pristine beaches, trendy bars, a thriving design district, great eateries, and luxurious accommodations. Here’s a brief weekend guide to the city for travellers who only have a few days to spare.

Beach Time on South Beach

South Beach in Miami is known as the surf capital but whether visitors are looking to surf or just hang in and enjoy the sun and sand, South Beach is a must visit. Rollerblading along Ocean Avenue is a popular activity. Sidewalk cafes and designer boutiques also line the beaches for when travelers are finished soaking up the sun on the beach. And many art deco apartments and luxury aparthotels in Miami are also located on this strip.

A stroll through Little Havana

Little Havana is one of the many fun spots you can visit in Miami. Cultural venues, clubs, and Cuban cafes give visitors the opportunity to engulf themselves in the Cuban culture whether they wish to enjoy the overall culture, the party scene or the amazing food.

Shopping in the Design District

If the beach is not quite your style, Miami also has an amazing Design District. In the Design District, homeowners can find a wide array of home decorating stores. Whether new custom kitchen cabinets are on the wish list or any type of deluxe furniture, Design District has it plus much more to offer. Many galleries also call the area home giving visitors ample opportunity to meander and observe while visiting.

Lunch at The Dutch

While visiting Miami and looking for a good local restaurant, The Dutch should be at the top of the list. New York City Chef Andrew Carmellini gained much attention when he opened his second restaurant in West South Beach Miami. The restaurant has a contemporary American style and features dishes such as Little Oyster Sandwiches and White Boy Ribs. Fresh pies are also made daily.

Drinks at Tobacco Road

Tobacco Road, established in 1912, is a must visit bar while in Miami. The bar has a bit of a history with law enforcement and at one point was known as the shady place in town, but has since outgrown that reputation and become the top bar in all of Miami. Whether visitors are looking for the best greasy bar hamburger in Miami or some of the best live music in the form of some of the top blues musicians in all of the country, Tobacco Road is the place to be.

Luxury Living by the Ocean

When it comes to choosing accommodations there are many options in Miami. For a taste of luxury by the ocean, there is Local Nomad which offers holiday rentals in villas, apartments and aparthotels. If you’ve come all the way to the beach, you may as well select a property that is right on the water so that you can enjoy that cool sea breeze. This is the perfect day to unwind after a long day of sightseeing around town.
